LISBON ART CENTER

In Lisbon´s historic centre, a old Convent, used nowadays for weddings and private parties, was the object of my final thesis in Architecture.

After a year of work, digging through its history and knowing everything there is to know about its location and preservation, I decided to propose it as a perfect object for a renovation in terms of purpose and architecture work.

The new Convent was to be transformed, through the preservation of its most iconic buildings (including its magnificent Church), into an Arts Center, where the importance of neighborhood was vital for its transformation. The main objective was to involve the community in this new building. With the use of workshops, art exhibitions, concerts and even contemplating on a whole new urban park that would revolve aroung the Convent and turn it into a new landscape and landmark of the Beato Community, in Lisbon.
