In an Open International Architecture Competition, the challenge was to be able to design a whole University Campus, in Jerusalem for the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design. 

The idea of the project was to take the area behind the actual existing university and sink it, taking advantage of the uneven surface of the occupying field. In one end of the lot, the building would appear underground, and on the other end, the building would appear with its white stone facade.

The interpretation of the lot demanded a continuous reading into the intersections that Jerusalem provides us, the visitor, among several elements and reference: between architecture and archeology, between culture and religion, between the material and the ethereal.

The proposal searches to establish a continuity that exists in Jerusalem´s street, but needs it to be emphasized. A mark on ruined walls that help divide spaces. The aim is to link the city to the university students by creating these new urban streets that gather people and brings the city together.

It´s a leading line that take us into a maze of open and closed spaces, mirroring the streets of old Jerusalem. Step by step we are taken into a space made of stone, light and distinctive textures. Soon, we´re able to feel the scale of the building wich accentuate the whole surrounding. It´s a set of pathways that cross the building from one end to another.
